About Us
The Buttonwood School is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization with a Board of Trustees overseeing the successful operation of the school.
OUR MISSION
Preserve Buttonwood School and Museum as a symbol of the history of the advancement of education and, to provide the facilities of the building to the New Castle community.
GOALS
To provide an endowment fund to cover the costs of maintaining the building and to minimize any fees associated with the use of the facilities by local businesses and residents.
OBJECTIVES
Recognize and promulgate the role of P.S. DuPont in advancing education in Delaware especially in the African-American community.
Promote tours by students and teachers to augment their understanding and appreciation of the value of education and its’ history in Delaware.
Serve the local community and businesses through the use of the facilities for weddings, anniversaries, classroom programs, etc.
